Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first in the first ODI between Sri Lanka and Australia, scoring 214 all out in 46 overs. Captain Charith Asalanka played a remarkable innings, scoring 127 runs off 126 balls.
At one point, Sri Lanka were 55 for 5 when Asalanka and Dunith Wellalage put on a 67-run stand for the 6th wicket. Wellalage was dismissed for 30, while Kusal Mendis scored 19 and Janith Liyanage scored 11. None of the other batsmen could reach the 10-run mark.
