Environmentalists point out that the fire that broke out in a finas plantation in the 9 th pillar area of the Galaha-Peradeniya road is not a natural forest fire. They point out that there is human activity may behind it and that this fire may have been started for the purpose of hunting animals.
It is reported that this fire was controlled by midnight yesterday. The Forest Conservation Department has made a great effort for this. About 100 acres belonging to the Upper Hanthana forest have been destroyed by the fire.
