It was stated in Parliament today that the statement made by the Cabinet Spokesperson that the Supreme Court ruling on the Local Government Elections (Special Provisions) Bill had been received by the Speaker is false.
The Speaker stated in Parliament today (05) that he has not yet received the ruling.
Commenting on this, Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekara said that Minister Nalinda Jayatissa had said that the Supreme Court had given its ruling in the case, but the case was called back on Friday.
Responding, Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said that what the Speaker said was correct.
