First Indian salt consignment to arrive in Sri Lanka next Monday

The first consignment of salt imported from India is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on Monday, the 27th, the State Commercial Miscellaneous Corporation said. The consignment of salt will include 4,500 metric tons.

It is reported that 12,500 metric tons of salt are planned to be imported by the 31st, and another 8,000 metric tons of salt will be imported in the future.

Last year, continuous rains caused a decline in salt production in the country’s salt mines. Therefore, the government was forced to import salt.
