A discussion was held between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Finance Ministry officials at the Presidential Secretariat this morning (07).
The President’s Media Division says that during the discussion, attention was paid to issues related to the importation of motor vehicles, collection of withholding tax and VAT, and digitalization.
Special attention was paid to the challenges faced in importing vehicles into Sri Lanka, and the President emphasized the need to resolve these issues by considering the current financial crisis and economic priorities in the country.
The President has also pointed out the importance of developing a convenient process for returning withholding tax collected from pensioners who are not subject to income tax.
Meanwhile, the President expressed optimism about Sri Lanka’s economic progress, stating that the country is gradually moving towards recovery and stability, and emphasized that the government is committed to increasing the benefits provided to the people despite the current challenges.
