Statement from the former President on the President’s Fund.

Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe says that during his tenure from 2022 to September 2024, provisions were made according to the personal requests of public representatives for medical treatment, but all of them were done under the standard administrative procedures of the President’s Fund.

Issuing a statement, he says that except in one case, no individual has been provided with financial assistance exceeding Rs. 1 million.

Several major payments made during this period are listed in the relevant statement.

Former Chief Minister of the Western Province E.A. Isura Devapriya Perera received Rs. 1 million for a heart surgery performed at Nawaloka Hospital,

Former Member of Parliament U. Sarath Kongahage received Rs. 500,000 for a heart surgery at Lanka Hospitals,

S.C. Former MP Muthukumarana received Rs. 400,000 from Vision Care to purchase hearing aids,

Former MP S.A. Jagath Kumara received Rs. 1 million for a heart surgery at Asiri Hospital.

Meanwhile, the statement states that veteran actress Malini Fonseka was given Rs. 5 million through the Sri Lankan Consulate General in Chennai to receive treatment at Apollo Hospital in India.

Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe further stated that financial assistance exceeding Rs. 100 million has been provided from the President’s Fund for medical treatment in the last two years.
