Education Ministry Secretary Nalaka Kaluwewa has said that steps will be taken to suspend the posting of development officers working in schools to other government offices.
He said this during a discussion held with representatives of several school development officer associations.
Both parties have pointed out that when recruiting development officers to the teaching service, they should act in accordance with the recommendations of the Public Service Commission, as pointed out by the Supreme Court. Accordingly, it has been emphasized that recruitment should be made through a competitive examination and that the maximum age limit can be considered up to 45 years.
This discussion was held under the patronage of Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Madura Senaratne.
