Since the people have given a clear mandate in the presidential election, the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna is of the opinion that the National People’s Power should have more power in the upcoming local government elections as well, said the party’s General Secretary, Attorney-at-Law Sagara Kariyawasam.
He stated that bowing to the majority opinion is democracy and since the people have placed their trust in the National People’s Power, they should be allowed to continue working.
However, he stated that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna will organize the upcoming local government elections on behalf of the people who do not accept the opinion of the National People’s Power led by the JVP.
