The Opposition Leader lost his traditional seat when Parliament met today. This situation arose because A. Ramanathan, an independent MP who came to Parliament representing the Jaffna district, took his seat.
A parliamentary employee asked the new MP to vacate the seat, but MP Ramanathan refused. He said that on the opening day of Parliament, it was announced that he would sit anywhere he wanted, and accordingly, he would sit in a seat of his choice. Therefore, the new MP said that it was unfair to try to remove him from the seat.
Although the employee explained the parliamentary traditions, he refused to vacate the seat, saying that he had come to change the tradition. When the MP continued to refuse, the employee left the place.
Today, the Opposition Leader also took a seat in a different seat than the Opposition Leader’s seat.
