National People’s Power MP Namal Karunaratne says that the expectations of the country’s farmers will definitely be fulfilled by the next season. He also says that he will continue to oppose the import of rice from abroad.
He said that the government has made many efforts to resolve these issues and that when the government came to power, there was not even a grain of rice in the government’s warehouses.
He said that several rounds of discussions were held with large-scale mill owners under the patronage of the President, but since no solution was found, he pointed out that measures should have been taken to control the situation.
He said that from the next season, only rice required for the tourism industry will be imported from abroad.
