Sri Lanka Customs has reportedly achieved more than 80% of its expected revenue target of 1.53 trillion rupees for 2024 as of October 28.
In the first ten months to October 28, 2024, Customs has generated revenue of Rs 1.23 trillion, and officials hope to surpass the target by the end of December this year.
Additional Director General of Customs Sivali Arukgoda told the Daily Mirror that they have collected tax revenue of up to Rs 1,230 billion and adding another Rs 300 billion is ‘not too difficult’. Sri Lanka Customs has achieved this target against the background of stopping the importation of motor vehechle, which is its main tax source.
