President calls for talks to lower prices of rice, coconuts, and eggs

A special discussion has been called under the chairmanship of President Anura Dissanayake on matters such as the rise in the prices of food items including rice, eggs and coconut in the market. It is scheduled to be held tomorrow at the Presidential Secretariat.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture mentions that there is an increase in the price of rice in the market and there is a shortage of Nadu rice.

The secretary also claims that a control price of 220 rupees per kg of Nadu rice was used, but the rice mill owners say that they are unable to sell rice at this control price due to the rise in the price of Nadu rice. He also said that the discussion will focus on issues such as the increase in food prices.
