Anura Kumara’s lie about customs is revealed.

The article is reacting to a statement made by National People’s Party’s presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake regarding the Sri Lankan Customs.

According to Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the Sri Lankan Customs does not have a deficit of 1.1 trillion rupees and the amount of outstanding tax to be collected is only 58 billion rupees.

It is stated in the announcement that these taxes have to be paid by 38 institutions and among them there is only one private institution and the other 37 institutions are public institutions.

The International Monetary Fund has confirmed 1534 billion rupees as the expected revenue target of Sri Lanka Customs in 2024. But by the end of the first 8 months of 2024, Sri Lanka Customs has managed to achieve a revenue target of 1000 billion rupees.

Director General of Customs Sarath Nonis stated that it is the highest revenue in history and the expected target of the year can be reached in the next 04 months.

National People’s Party presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that the Sri Lankan Customs has an outstanding tax amount of 1.1 trillion rupees while participating in a program on a private television station.
