Ulapane Sumangala Thero said that the people who used to work as the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna have come to the fore today as the National People’s Force. He say that people’s issues are being used unnecessarily for politics, and they have created problems in every sector of the country and caused them to collapse.
“People took to the streets by force, now they are demanding votes, the problems of teachers and principals were in the Ministry of Education, but the NPP brought them to the Fort Railway Station to protest. They were subjected to water cannons and tear gas attacks,” he said.
“That’s why we decided to gather 10,000 Buddhist monks to Colombo next Wednesday (11) and show who they support. This decision was made with the aim of protecting Buddhism and other religions,”
He also said that every previous government, except the Janatha Vimukti Peramuna, had accepted the protection of Buddhism in the Constitution.
