Anura Kumara prepares to export fuel.

National People’s Power presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake says that a refinery will be built in Trincomalee and fuel will be exported through Trincomalee port.

He also mentioned that under a future National People’s Power (NPP) government, the Trincomalee Oil Tank Complex will be developed as a joint venture with Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and a foreign investor. He gave further details and said:

“We have 99 oil storage tanks. One tank can store 10,000 metric tons and the entire tank complex can store 1 million metric tons. We have more storage capacity than our requirement. As the trincomalee port is strategically located, we can become a fuel exporting country. We want to build a refinery in Trincomalee and store the refined fuel in our storage tanks and send it to the market through the port.

Addressing a public meeting held in Kantale, he commented as follows.
