Minister of State for Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that the increase in the number of candidates in the presidential election is not a problem and the Ministry of Finance is ready to allocate money according to the estimates presented.

He pointed out that the cost estimate of the presidential election has not yet exceeded the limit of 10 billion rupees

“Its length may increase as the number of aspirants increases. It can increase the number of ballot boxes. An additional expenditure of around 100 million rupees has to be incurred for each candidate. “Currently submitted estimates have been funded,” the minister said.

“The Election Commission stated that 10 billion rupees may be spent on the election. Even after giving provisions to the estimates presented, there is still money left over. Apart from expenses like printing, security, transportation, etc., the Election Commission stated that there are some expenses to cover such as allowances of the officials. , There is no need to pay those expenses right now,” said the minister.
