The Election Commission has suspended nine ”sakwala” events that were to be held in Ampara under the leadership of opposition leader and Samagi Jana Balavega leader Sajith Premadasa. This is a festive name for the Sakwala program, which provides friendly classroom equipment to nine schools.
According to the internal sources of Samagi Janbalavega, about 70 Sakwala programs planned to be held in the next few days have to be cancelled.

Although the Election Commission is silent on the public rallies held by President Ranil Wickremesinghe, it is unfair to suspend Sajith Premadasa’s programs like this.
