Army officers from the Lakshapana army base have initiated an operation to locate the young man who went missing after jumping over a security fence near the Udamaluwa road on the Ratnapura-Sripada route.
The missing individual is identified as a 33-year-old pilgrim from the Suriyawewa area, who was visiting Sri Pada Vandana. He had gone to Sri Padasthana with two other women yesterday morning (19). According to CCTV footage from Sri Pada Udamalu, the man suddenly ran and jumped from the safety fence while descending the Ratnapura-Sripada road.
The two women who were with him informed the police that the man appeared to be mentally disturbed before jumping over the fence.”
