The Sri Lanka Afghanistan second Twenty20 match was held at the Rangiri Dambulu International Stadium yesterday and the Sri Lankan team managed to win the match by 72 runs.
After winning the toss, the Afghanistan captain invited the Sri Lankan team to bat first.
Accordingly, the Sri Lankan team entered the field and managed to collect 187 runs by losing 6 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs.
In batting, Sadira Samarawickrama scored 51 runs for the Sri Lankan team, also scoring his maiden half-century.
Angelo Mathews scored 42 off 22 balls. His innings included 4 massive sixes and 2 fours. Pathum Nissanka scored 25 points, Kusal Mendis scored 23 points and captain Vanindu Hasaranga scored 22 points.
For Afghanistan, Omarzai took 2 wickets, Mohammad Nabi took 2 wickets and Farooqi and Naween – UL shared one wicket each.
Accordingly, the Afghanistan team, which entered the field to chase a winning target of 187 runs, managed to score only 115 runs after 17 overs.
In batting, Janat scored 28 runs and Nabi scored 27 runs for the Afghanistan team.
In the bowling for Sri Lanka, Angelo Mathews, Vanindu Hasaranga, Binura Fernando and Matisha Pathirana shared 2 wickets each. Also, Dasun Shanaka and Mahish Thiekshana managed to take one wicket each.
Accordingly, the Sri Lankan team was able to win the Sri Lanka-Afghanistan T20 series consisting of 3 matches with one more match remaining.
