State Minister for Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that a new property tax for property is expected to be introduced in 2025. The state minister said that this property tax, which is levied as a direct tax, is expected to be collected only from high-net-worth individuals.
In addition to this, the government has no hope of introducing new indirect taxes or increasing the tax percentages, said Finance Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya. The state minister further said that the prices of goods will not increase due to indirect taxes and the prices will be determined based on the demand and supply of the goods.
