The National Movement for the Protection of Consumer Rights warns that the stock of rice, which is trying to be released from the port by saying that it is for animal feed, is in threat of relesing the market.
In a statement, its chairman Ranjith Withanage said that the Board of Directors of the Consumer Authority had called an emergency meeting today (19) to discuss this matter.
It is further stated in the announcement that there is a suspicion that smugglers are behind this incident who redeemed this stock of rice and sold it with the rice in the market saying that the relevant stock of rice will be given for animal feed.
