The paintings of the historic Dambulu cave temple are facing a threat of destruction due to the prevailing heavy rains.
Dambulu cave is considered to be the longest cave in Asia with paintings covering an area of nearly 20000 square feet. It has many paintings and sculptures and it is reported that the paintings have started to come off due to the rise in humidity due to the rainy weather.
An official said that the Central Cultural Fund is studying this situation and taking immediate steps to preserve the paintings.
