It is reported that the well-known businessman Dhammika Perera, who is considered to be contesting from the Podujana Peramuna, has already started his election campaign even though the exact date for the presidential election has not yet been announced.
According to that, a secret discussion was held between Dhammika Perera and Sri Lanka Freedam Party leader, Former prasident, Maithripala Sirisena recently and it has been learned that a group of 10 members of Parliament has also joined it.
It is reported that several MPs who came to Parliament representing Podujana Peremun in the last general election and later became independent and several MPs representing Podujana Peremuna at prasant are in that group.
According to political sources, Dhammika Perera is trying to stand for the presidential election with the support of the Sri Lanka Freedam Party if the Podujana Peramuna comes forward to support the current president in the presidential election.
