The Audit Services Association calls for the sacking ‘Cope’ chairman

Sources from the opposition leader’s office said that Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said that the COPE committee meetings have been suspended until further notice.

Responding to a query made by opposition leader Sajith Premadasa, the speaker said that the COPE committee meetings will resume after resolving the current problematic situation.

When the Sri Lanka Cricket Association was summoned before the COPE committee, the opposition accused its chairman Prof. Ranjith Bandara of trying to manipulate the witnesses with hand signals. other than The opposition says that he should not participate in the remaining investigations related to Sri Lanka Cricket because he has been appointed as a consultant to the cricket body.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Audit Services Association, which has written a letter to the Speaker, has made a request to remove the Chairman of the Committee on Public Enterprises (Cope) from that position and to appoint a member of good practice who can fulfill the responsibilities of that position properly.

In addition to this, Professor Ranjit Bandara has also invited his son to the COP committee, and the opposition has expressed its objection to that.
