The Chairman of the Court of Appeal recuses himself from hearing the sports minister’s petition.

Yesterday, Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe filed a motion requesting that the Interim Prohibition Order be nullified by the Court of Appeal suspending the Sri Lanka Cricket Interim Committee. The motion is scheduled to be heard today and it is reported that the President of the Court of Appeal, Judge Nishanka Bandula Karunaratne, has decided to withdraw from that legal work.

During the examination of this motion, senior advocate G.G. Arulpragasam is scheduled to appear. On the advice of President’s lawyer K. Kanageswaran , The Minister of Sports said in Parliament that he no longer trusts the Attorney General and will go to court through a private lawyer.
