In the first 10 months of 2023, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) disconnected 544,488 electricity connections. This information has been mentioned in a report released recently by the Ministry of Power and Energy.
However, due to the increase in electricity bills, it is reported that more than 8% of Sri Lankans are unable to pay their monthly electricity bills.
At the end of 2021, 94,201 electricity connections have been disconnected and at the end of 2022, 247,250 electricity connections have been disconnected.
