A meeting between UN Resident Coordinator Marc-André Franche and Minister of Public Security Tiran Alas was held at the Ministry of Public Security yesterday afternoon, where the proposed Online Safety Act was discussed.
Speaking there, UN Resident Coordinator Marc Andre Franche said that he is ready to support Sri Lanka in exchanging ideas and proposals with international organizations regarding the Online Security Bill.
He said there that 21 organizations affiliated to the United Nations are operating in Sri Lanka, and through exchanging ideas with that organization, Sri Lanka’s ambitions can be helped to be achieved. Furthermore, the UN Resident Coordinator commented that laws related to the security of Internet systems are a global need.
