Electricity tariff hike after taking public comments.

A spokesman for the Public Utilities Commission told our website that the Sri Lanka Electricity Board has made a request to increase the electricity tariffs, but public comments should be obtained before giving approval.

A period of 21 days to seek public opinion as per the Public Utilities Act .The spokesperson further stated that all arrangements have been made for the Bandaranaike Conference Hall in Colombo from the 18th to get the views of the people.

The publicist says that after obtaining the opinions of the public, it can be decided whether or not to approve the increase in fees, and if it is approved, the increase in fees will be effective from that day.
