The police constable who was injured in the accident at Kurunduwatta roundabout yesterday died this morning. The police media unit has issued a clarification notice about the rumor spreading on social media that the father of the IT engineer who was arrested in connection with the accident is a police officer. Accordingly, the driver’s father had volunteered at the police hospital as an obstetrician and gynecologist some time ago.
At that time, he was given the position of Senior Superintendent of Police in the Police Sub-Service and later he has left the police service, according to the announcement issued by the Police Media Spokesman.
A 25-year-old resident of Valasmulla area, police constable Manoj Priyankara, who worked in the Kurunduwatta Police Traffic Division, died in the accident.
