President Ranil Wickremesinghe said in Parliament today that he hopes to merge both the Employees’ Provident Fund and the Employees’ Trust Fund under an independent board.
He said this while replying to a question regarding the independent management of the EPF fund by the MP Eran Wickramaratne. Also, the President agreed to consult with the opposition regarding this proposal and consider their views.
The President further said that whether EPF and ETF funds should be allowed to be used for foreign investments should be discussed in the future.
