Chairman of the Parliament’s Ways and Procedures Committee Patali Champika Ranawaka states that the officials of the Excise Department have informed the said Committee that they cannot even find the whereabouts of the two companies named ”wayaba Spirits” and ”Globe Blender’,” which have defrauded the government of over 1400 million rupees in excise duty.
M.P Patali Ranawaka said that the Ways and Procedures Committee has ordered the Excise Department to immediately take action to collect the defaulted excise duty exceeding 6500 million rupees and the Excise Department has informed the committee that these two companies are missing during the investigations conducted accordingly.
He further said that the employees of the two companies were also missing and the buildings were also removed.
