03 days holiday for Kandy schools due to Esala Perahera

The Central Provincial Ministry of Education and the Provincial Department have decided to give a three-day holiday to schools in the Kandy suburbs due to the Esala Perahera festival which is being held in the center of Kandy.

Accordingly, the 28th, 29th and 31st of this month are holidays for schools located from Kandy city to Katugastota bridge, from Kandy city to Peradeniya bridge and Gannoru junction, through Vawa Rauma to Ampitiya and Thannekumbura bridge. Apart from this, this holiday is also applicable for Dodamwala Royal Primary School, Hanthana and Bowalawatta schools.

This decision is being implemented as per the advice of the Central Province Governor, Advocate Lalith U. Gamage, to prevent school children from being inconvenienced due to the huge crowds that come to Kandy to watch the processions. The Governor of the Central Province has also informed the education authorities to cover the schools for three days on this holiday Saturday.
