Trade Unions accuse the Port Authority of breaking promises.

The port trade union union says that the port authority has not fulfilled the promises made by the port authority to give 10% of the profits of the Sri Lanka Port Authority to the port workers.

The trade unions state that the profit of the port authority in 2022 is 57 billion rupees and one billion of it has been sent to the treasury. They point out that 13.7 billion rupees have been paid in various payments and the Port Authority has made a net profit of 22 billion in that year.

And in view of this situation, the trade unions state that although the Port Authority has promised to provide an allowance of 50000 rupees on behalf of a port employee, they have not yet arranged to pay that amount.
