TikTok is banned in Nepal

The Nepali government has banned TikTok, saying it contains content harmful to social harmony. Speaking to the BBC, Rekha Sharma, the country’s Minister of Communication and Information Technology, says that I had to come to the decision because of the obscene content.

Many countries including India have already blocked access to TikTok, which has more than a billion monthly users.

The government of Nepal has introduced strict decisions for the regulation of social media organizations and has taken steps to draft a new law making it mandatory for all social media sites operating in the country to establish contact offices in the country.
