Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said that the new tenure of the local government institutions will be announced soon after consultation with the Election Commission and Ministry officials.
On the 19th, after 12 midnight, the official period of the local government bodies will end. After that, the administration of all those local government institutions is transferred under the municipal commissioners and council secretaries.
