The Omani investor withdraws the factory due to the thugs of the state minister

The owner of Katana Al Obeidan Apparel Factory, which was attacked by a mob of a state minister representing Gampaha district, has decided to withdraw from Sri Lanka.

As a preliminary step, the stock of cloth stored there has been sent to other countries yesterday. According to the report, a group of employees of the factory engaged in a protest movement yesterday afternoon (04) protesting against the evacuation of the factory, after which the police intervened and allowed the removal of the goods.

According to the report, the owner has decided to sell the factory and the land to another company, and a group of thugs of the state minister who supplied vehicles to the factory on rent basis attacked the owner and the security officer of the factory.

The Omani Ambassador to Sri Lanka complained to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the investigations carried out by the Katana Police regarding the incident could not be agreed upon and then the investigations were handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department. So far, five people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
