The new Board of Governors of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, established under the provisions of the Central Bank Act No. 16 of 2023, held its first meeting yesterday, September 21, 2023.
This new governing body has been established after the abolition of the previous Finance Board under the provisions of the Money Law Act.
The meeting of the new Governing Body of the Central Bank was held with the participation of the following members:-
Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka as Chairman,
President’s lawyer Sanjeewa Jayawardena, who previously worked as a member of the Finance Board,
Mr. Nihal Fonseka, who was previously a member of the Finance Board,
Dr. Ravi Ratnayake,
Anushka Wijesinghe.
These members of the newly constituted Board of Governors will also be members of the newly constituted Monetary Policy Board of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. The Monetary Policy Committee will meet soon for its first meeting.
