Minister of State for Indigenous Medicine Sisira Jayakodi says that the approval required to cultivate hemp with medicinal value will be announced through the gazette notification of the Ayurvedic Law Code.
Accordingly, the Minister of State said in the Parliament today that not only hemp but also many other drugs that are currently being imported will be promoted as commercial crops.
However, while presenting the Ayurveda Amendment Bill to the Parliament, he said that this bill should have been presented earlier, and that it was a great pleasure for him to suggest that MP Diana Gamage give the necessary permission to grow hemp.
