The Daily Mirror reports that Jerome Fernando, who is said to have made an insulting statement to Buddha, has left the country this morning, quoting sources close to him. The Criminal Investigation Department was supposed to present facts to the court today to obtain a travel ban against him and before that he is said to have traveled abroad.
The CID has received complaints that he insulted Buddhism and other religions in a speech and an investigation is underway under the President’s order.
According to the report, Jerem Fernando left for Singapore early this morning with his wife and two daughters and he is going to leave for another destination. In the meantime, the Catholic Church announces that this preacher has nothing to do with the Catholic Church, and that his statement will be condemned.
