It was decided to temporarily stop the series of strikes launched by the Association of Government Medical Officers at the provincial level, said Haritha Aluthge, the secretary of the association. Comenting further on that, he said that this decision was taken because of the positive response from the government.
The strike was implemented in the hospitals of the Northern Province today (03) and the Government Medical Officers Association had previously decided to launch the strike in other provinces as well this week.
The association said that the strike was initiated at the provincial level in protest against the government’s failure to retain doctors in the country to mitigate the collapse of the health system to some extent.
