To sell SriLankan Air, Amends the Aviation Act

The Cabinet has approved the amendment of the existing Civil Aviation Act allowing public private partnership in the running of air services.

According to Section 6 (3) e of the Civil Aviation Act, the government currently owns the majority of air services at airports in Sri Lanka. The new amendment allows the Cabinet to appoint “one or more persons as service providers” to provide air services.
