Ayurveda Commissioner General Dhammika Abeygunawardena says that because the spread of sexually transmitted diseases including AIDS is increasing through massage parlors, a series of new laws will be introduced for massage treatments.
He said that according to the new set of rules, all massage establishments must be registered with the department, the masseurs working in such establishments must meet the relevant professional qualifications, and a qualified doctor must be employed in every massage centers
Also, under the new law, it is completely prohibited for men to massage women and for women to massage men, the Ayurveda Commissioner said further.
