Mahinda, Rohitha, Pavitra are not suspects in the May 9 attack

The Fort Magistrate’s Court today ordered the complete lifting of the foreign travel ban imposed against former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and several others in connection with the May 09 incident.

Accordingly, the order will also apply to the members of Parliament Rohitha Abeygunawardena, Minister Pavitra Vanniarachchi, and former Provincial Council Member Kanchana Jayaratne. The order of the magistrate states that this order should be forwarded to the Comptroller General of Immigration and the release of the passports.

As they have not been named as suspects, the magistrate made this order after considering the request made by President’s Attorney Shavendra Fernando to lift their travel ban.
