Garment export earnings down, remittances up

The central bank reports show that the export earnings of industrial goods in February 2023 have been lower than in February 2022, with the garment export earnings significantly lower.

According to the report, the main reason for this is the decline in demand in the main markets that export garments due to the adverse economic conditions prevailing globally.

Central Bank of Sri Lanka reports that 23,974 people have left for foreign jobs in February 2023. The report further states that the amount of foreign remittance received in this country in February 2022 was 205 million dollars but in February 2023 it has increased to 407 million dollars.
