A tense situation has arisen after two National People’s Power MPs entered a garment factory in the Bingiriya area.
MP Wijesiri Basnayake, who was confronted with the problem, states that he went there to investigate a problem that arose due to the removal of several vans used for transportation at the garment factory.
He says that as the MP for the Bingiriya area, he went to a discussion with the factory authorities regarding the development work taking place there, and when he returned, a strange situation had arisen in front of the factory.
National People’s Power MP Ajith Gihan, who participated in the event, said that
several vans that were providing transportation services at the factory had been removed and that he had gone there to discuss the matter.
He said that the people and drivers of the area were saying that the transport should be done fairly without causing injustice to anyone. He said that the administration had agreed to call for tenders for that, and he added that a group of people protested when they came out after the discussions.
A spokesperson for the Bingiriya Police said that their officers intervened and removed the MPs from the scene.
