Two more ministers to be appointed

A cabinet reshuffle is scheduled to be carried out within the next fortnight, increasing the number of cabinet members from 23 to 25, political sources say.

It is learnt that either Deputy Speaker Rizvi Sali or State Minister Munir Mulaffar representing the Gampaha District will be given a cabinet ministerial post. The government has taken this decision as there has been no Muslim minister in the cabinet so far.

Apart from this, there are plans to appoint another new minister, but a final decision has not been taken yet, according to high-ranking sources. The report states that the relevant amendment is to be made without exceeding the number of cabinet ministers, as the National People’s Force announced during the general election.
