The surrendered official vehicles are parked at Galle Face, not the stolen ones.

Former Member of Parliament Dilum Amunugama says that he regrets that the official vehicles used by former government ministers were displayed as stolen vehicles after they were returned.

He said this in response to a statement made by former Member of Parliament Wasantha Samarasinghe regarding the vehicles parked at the Galle face after the handover.

Speaking to the media, he said that the Mp’s Ministers, Chairman of the Development Committee used those for their official work and not the stolen ones. He said that he regretted that using an official vehicle owned by law was described as a misuse. He emphasized that it is acceptable to make jokes before a party comes to power, but it is not acceptable to do so after coming to power.

He further said that if any vehicle has been stolen, it is an illegal use, but since it is being investigated, it should be investigated.

He said that if the current government intends to walk to work without using vehicles, they are free to do so according to their wishes. If the people expect such actions from the government, they can obey it. However, he said that there were no such expectations from the public during the previous government.
