The government’s hatred…….

Sri Lankans are a kind people. Cooperation was a fundamental part of their life. Sharing the joys and sorrows of their neighbors was the basic way of life of Sri Lankans. They were able to maintain this cooperation both on the farm and in the workplace.

The cooperation of Sri Lankans was not only with people. They also had a wonderful coexistence with trees, plants, animals . A Sri Lankan would not even dare to break a branch of a tree. Sri Lankans were generous enough to leave a part of the paddy field they had worked hard to cultivate for the birds to eat. The farmer left fruits like bananas and papayas grown in the fence for the animals to eat. Such a generous people are not found in any other society.

The current government has worked in six months to transform such a high-quality society into a society full of hatred and mutual resentment because the government has realized that the only way to continue its inefficient rule for five years is to spread social hatred.

It can be understood from observing their social media posts that the National People’s Power has been inciting public hatred against public servants since the beginning of their government. Even ministers openly said that since they have received state power and government authority, they will take action of those who do not obey them. The results of this continuous public incitement could be seen at the Hambantota District Secretariat recently. A person caused immense damage by entering the District Secretariat because he was late in completing his work.

That person, who was misled by the hateful thought of government, is still in prison. The employees who have tarnished their professional pride are regretting it. The short-sighted rulers think that they have achieved a great victory.

The next victims of the government’s hate campaign are the doctors. As soon as the Government Medical Officers’ Association launched a strike to protest the incident at the Anuradhapura Hospital, the government’s hired writers began to insult the doctors on social media. These hired writers are still trying to create an opinion in society where they attack the striking doctors. Their argument is that the doctors’ strikes are taking patients hostage.

This is a wonderful argument. It is needless to say that it was the National People’s Power that led the strikes even when the country was locked down during the Corona pandemic and that led the strikes by not allowing teachers to marked the exam answering papers. It is amazing how such a party behaves after taking power.

The other group that is being targeted by government supporters for social hatred are private bus workers. There have been many attacks on bus workers in the past few weeks. The government is going to take society to a place where village cases are heard and village decisions are made. Everyone with common sense should oppose it.

This government is not only spreading hatred against people. They are spreading hatred against helpless animals as well. Now it has has become a policy of them . The same is the case with monkeys, squirrels and peacocks that are being glorified by the government’s hired writers. People and animals who used to happily share the same ecosystem today act shamelessly with fierce hatred. Finaly the government  has taken steps to bring society to a place where they are told to kill wild animals. This journey of the government, spreading hatred throughout society against government employees and professionals, is extremely frightening. It is important to understand that the fires of hatred that are fueled by social media for their current existence will ultimately consume them .
