Engineer Upali Ratnayake, co-convener of the Union of Water Supply Unions, said that the employees of the Water Supply and Drainage Board have decided to go on a continuous strike due to the government not providing proper solutions to their demands. Accordingly, he further said that his members will withdraw from all office services and customer services.
He further mentioned that since water is an essential public need, considering the inconvenience caused to the people, only water supply will be maintained, and accordingly, only pumping station and treatment plant works will be carried out.
