The crisis between the IGP and the Police Commission is getting worse.

The crisis between the National Police Commission and the Acting IGP has not yet been resolved. The National Police Commission has issued a statement regarding the crisis, which has now reached the Constitutional Council. Read the statement at the link below.

The facts presented by the Acting IGP before the National Police Commission on several occasions and the written submissions made by him indicate that the National Police Commission is interfering in the internal affairs of the Sri Lanka Police, such as the transfers of officers, and influencing the work of the IGP. However, the statement states that the Acting National Police Commission has not exerted any such influence and that the Police Commission has always performed its duties in accordance with the provisions of the constitutional law and other laws and rules of the country.
